an aunt who gives books –
I consider myself to be a pretty good puzzle solver. This book of puzzles is by far the most challenging I’ve ever come across. The reason is that the pictures are very intricate so there are a lot of blocks with 1, 2 and 3 pixels. I rarely have to peek at the answers but with these I had to consult frequently to find out where I went wrong. I don’t mean to dissuade anyone from buying this book (except beginners). If you like challenging puzzles, this is for you! Plus, all but a very few of the puzzles are hard.An added note. Paint-Doku is a deceiving description. They’re sometimes call Nonograms. These are not meant to be a paint by numbers book. They’re logic puzzles done in pencil. And personally, I care more about the process of solving than what the picture looks like when completed.Extra points for the spiral binding!!Enjoy!

Conceptis game books are such a pleasure to use – great paper, clear graphics, and sturdy binding. Don’t let the name “Paint-doku” fool you – these are puzzles to do in black and white. And I’m addicted! I wish there were more books available. In my eyes, this is much more engaging than soduku!I will admit that I’ve unintentionally bought books I already had, and I’ve had just as much fun (and roughly the same level of success) the second time around. There are a few puzzles that I just CANNOT solve. I truly hope that is because there is some strategy that I haven’t yet discovered, rather than that sometimes the solution requires throwing logic to the wind. Thank goodness for the answers in the back! I appreciate being able to take a quick peak … and I really want more books!

Yes! I’ve gone through so many of these books already, so it’s become quite difficult to find a new one with new puzzles in it. This is exactly what I was looking for.I started these puzzles, calling them nonograms, but they go by many different names. It’s basically a grid with numbers letting you know exactly which boxes to fill in and which to skip. You’ve gotta use knowledge and logic to figure it out though.I’ve been doing these for years now, so I usually skip over the tiny puzzles and go for the ones in the back; they tend to be much more difficult. However, I’ve already been stumped on some of the small ones! This book is by far my favorite of all the ones I’ve ordered from Amazon.

While it’s a good paper and this puzzle book is spiral-bound, the print is very small. Seems like it is a lot of unused space on the page.

I personally found the title and cover … misleading in this regard. You will never be drawing a three color face in this book, unless you decide to color them in as a second step *after* solving them. The puzzles are fine, as long as you’re looking for a classic binary-grid japanese crossword. But if you’re looking for the multi-color variety of nonogram you need a different book.

Brain exercise and a diversion from the ordinary

I love the quality of the paper in this book. The pages are sturdy and a crisp white. The puzzles range from easy to difficult, but provide hours and days of enjoyment.

The Conceptis Paint-doku books are all awesome. The spiral binding is perfect allowing you to fully open the book. The paper is high quality and takes a beating from many erasings. The puzzles are fun, interesting and challenging. I wish Conceptis made more of these.

Grid is too small
The grid is too small, though there is enough place on the page

Desenhos lindos
Os desenhos deste livros são fantásticos, muito bem detalhados e com uma ótima dificuldade. O tamanho dos números e dos quadrados é perfeito. Excelente livro
